Thursday 15th December 2-3pm
The Side Gallery can be found at 5-9 Side, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3JE.

The Side Gallery’s Curator, Kerry Lowes, will give a short talk and then a tour of the Gallery. This will be followed by tea and coffee at 3pm. The Exhibition running when we visit is “Matriarchy”, celebrating the history, culture and resilience of women-led communities. It includes Big Heart – Strong Hands by Anne-Helene Gjelstad and Juchitan by Graciela Iturbide.
The Side Gallery is dedicated to showing the best in documentary photography, rich, powerful and challenging work engaged with people’s lives and landscapes, telling stories that often get marginalised, whether they are from the North East of England or anywhere else in the world.
Side Gallery is a photography Gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne, run by Amber Film and Photography Collective. It opened in 1977 as Side Gallery and Cinema with a remit to show humanist photography commissioned by the group along, with work it found inspirational.
