Collagraph is printing from a textured collage. Each print from the plate will be slightly different because it changes with use. The prints on paper can be mounted or used as designs for Christmas cards etc.
On the day, we will make collages on card using textures which. When the glue is dry, we can make prints by carefully inking up of the collages, like inking up an etching or a lino print. Then we will print onto white, coloured or patterned paper.
For you to make your initial collage, please bring textures such as lace or netting, textured card or wallpaper, flat card for simple shapes, cotton, embossed greeting cards or anything you find. The more you find the more ideas you will have. For printing, please bring strong paper plain, patterned or coloured as you wish. You could also print onto fabric if you stretch it.
This is a method that you can use at home too, it is a fascinating process as exact results cannot be guaranteed but “happy accidents happen!”
The workshop costs £10 for members and £15 for non-members.
