“This Land of Ours” was a practical workshop exploring how to capture landscape in fabric and stitch. Participants worked from their own source materials to develop an appliqué image of a landscape/scenery that was special to them. You can see more of Donna’s work at donnacheshiretextiles.com/
“This Land of Ours” was run by Textile Artist Donna Cheshire at the Hatton Gallery, 13th May, 2023.
Not having participated (as a learner) in a face to face workshop for some years, it was very reassuring to be greeted so warmly when entering the Learning Room at the Hatton on Saturday. The aim of the day was to create, from a wonderful array of hand dyed textiles and threads provided by our tutor, Donna, a landscape that had meaning for us, working from our own sketches, photographs or other sources.
Donna inspired us with her samples of finished work and shared her expert knowledge and tips to develop our pieces on the day. Members of the group exchanged ideas as well. It was a really friendly atmosphere in which to learn new things and relax with some hand stitching to enhance our fabric collage landscapes. Thank you for a lovely day – and cake!
