The Collagraph Day workshop held in early January was a great success. Brenda Procter (workshop leader) reflects below on the day. We’ve added some mini reviews from some of the people who came along too. Photographs by Jo Cousin.
What a great day! And a well-attended workshop. Everybody was enthusiastic and creative. Everyone shared ideas and materials and
the resulting prints accumulated in an informal “exhibition” (in an empty corner of the very busy room) was amazing. Everyone came with a variety of textured materials which we glued onto card and then left to dry. Block printing ink was then applied to the textures with rollers and prints were taken. We experimented more as we went along. There were so many ideas that there could never be enough time [on the day] to experiment further and explore them all.The works made are the basis of some wonderful art.
Thank you to the Friends of the Hatton, the Hatton Gallery for the opportunity, and to Josephine and Hazel for the arrangements (and lunch). Finally, thank you! the printers! I enjoyed myself very much.

I really enjoyed the [collagraph] print workshop. We used some really simple ‘kitchen sink’ materials and produced some lovely effects. There was also a warm, convivial and collaborative atmosphere. Well done to Brenda and Josephine.

It was a lovely relaxed workshop and as always [I was] inspired by working alongside other creatives. Brenda explained and demonstrated the process of collagraph printing so well (which was much appreciated for a complete beginner like me). She was so supportive and encouraging too. I will be practicing it further at home.
Thanks also for the warm welcome from Josephine who facilitated the workshop.
