Our new President Joyce Quin has a new book out. ‘Angels of the North: Volume Two – More Notable Women of the North East‘ is co-written by Joyce with Moira Kilkenny.

In the second volume of Angels of the North the authors went in search of more north east women whose achievements have either been overlooked or deserve further celebration. Their research has brought to life the work and personalities of thirty five inspirational local women.
These women range from ground-breaking scientists and artists to campaigning politicians and social reformers. All of them have contributed to improvements in public life. One woman had to escape from slavery, while some faced dangers in war zones and others took on powerful political and religious institutions with bravery and selfless acts. The achievements of these dedicated women were often ignored during their lifetimes, but now we can appreciate their commitment and determination to succeed, often against the odds.
Angels of the North Volume Two is published by Tyne Bridge Publishing and is available to buy at Newcastle City Library shop or online at newcastle.gov.uk/NLTynebridgepublishing (and Amazon). RRP £20. Volume One is also available.
