Committee members Polina Chizova and James Stephen Wright are connected to Videocity; an international public art project founded in 2013 in Basel, Switzerland. There is an exhibition in March at NewBridge Books (the bookshop in The NewBridge Project) in Newcastle!

The exhibition, is called “Delicate Liminalities”, and presents the work of three UK and three Japanese video artists focussing on the themes of nature and technology. All three UK artists have a strong connection to Newcastle.

Before coming to Newcastle, the exhibition was displayed in Tokyo at Room101 in February. The exhibition will be accompanied by a selection of Japanese artist books and zines.

Delicate Liminalities / 些細な狭間 – 1. – 29 March 2025

NewBridge Books, The Newbridge Project
Clarence Walk, Shieldfield Centre 4 – 8, off Stoddart St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 1AL

Artists: Kyun-Chome, Momoko Seto, Petra Szemán, Takumi Tsuji, Wolfgang Weileder, Ella Yolande.

The exhibition explores how humans relate, co-create and impact the natural environment that surrounds us in the context of the climate emergency. The videos delve into the intricate intersection between our bodies, environments, and the shared consciousness of the ecosystem. Challenging techno-solutionism, “Delicate Liminalities / 些細な狭間” inquires how our bodily experience of nature can foster a deeper personal and cultural understanding.

Polina and James are also planning an informal PechaKucha event in mid-March, date tbc. You can find more details on our website: https://www.videocity.org/delicate-liminalities
